Firsts

Baby Camden is 3 weeks old today!

This past week we have had a bunch of "firsts" for the little guy!

We started him on a pacifier. This helps out a bunch between feedings when he seems like he just wants something to suck on. He didn't catch on right away. Some days he loves it...and other days it is like he has never seen one before. I dont know what to call it, so I call it many different things, a pacie, ninny, binky...Jeremy says we need to call it something manly - so he came up with, Vortex. As I type this blog with one hand, Camden is in my arm sucking on his Vortex. Sorry for any typos :)

I also started pumping and we have introduced a bottle to him. He took this like a champ! This is great because it makes it so much easier when we go out in public and I dont have to nurse him. It also helps when Jeremy and I leave the house and we have someone watching him. I am very proud of him!

We also gave him his first bath...eek. I don't know if he just didn't like being naked or what, but he wasnt very happy. Attempt number 2 is tonight. Hopefully he enjoys it a little better. I also bet he wishes that mommy bathed more :-/

We also took our first trip to the park on a very hot day...what were we thinking?? He slept right through it....he probably didnt even realize how hot it really was

We also introduced him to his crib for the first time. The first night was a little rough....he still did pretty good. Last night was great! Fed him at 9pm and he woke up at midnight, 3am and 6am. I could get used to that!! I'm probably jinxing myself now by talking about how great he was...but hopefully he will keep it up.

Mommy also had her first....first beer...make that 3.
It was nice to be able to have a drink but it wasn't as great as I remember. I'm looking forward to a glass, or bottle, of wine :)

The next things that he is attempting to tackle are keeping his head up and smiling....we are getting close to both! I'm still having a hard time teaching him how to change his own diaper, but I'm working on it.

Reality Check

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

We had a wonderful Father's day! We were able to spend the day with both my family and Jeremy's. A bunch of family was able to meet Camden for the first time!

We were so blessed to have the Floyd's in town with us for an entire week! They helped out soooo much and we were so happy to have them here :)

All I can is that Monday morning when I woke up was a serious reality check. No one was here for me to hand over the baby when I wanted to eat, take a nap, or go to the bathroom. Well...today is Thursday, and I've officially made it through 4 days with no set of extra hands...and I've survived!

Trying to get Camden on a schedule is a little difficult, but we're working on it...and since I'm breastfeeding, there's not much that Jeremy can do to help out with the feedings. Needless to say, I haven't really been getting much sleep, but naps during the day sure are nice <3

Every day is something new. Today we ran a few errands - we went to the bank, Target, and Babys R Us. My little man was such a good boy - he slept the entire time...I was jealous :)

Star of Mommy's Blog

Today it's all about baby! He is the whole reason I started this blog in the first place <3

Wednesday June 8th was the big day. It started early in the morning with contractions - which lasted allll daaayyy looonngg - and ended with a beautiful, healthy baby boy!

The in-laws were in town from Georgia, and Jeremy was planning on going into work late that day, so we went and had brunch at my parents house. It was the way I would have wanted the birth day of my son to begin - with a wonderful breakfast at my parents!

Jeremy went into work around noon and he was checking on me at least every hour. I stayed and hung out with my mother until around 3pm when she took me back to my house. Contractions were getting closer together and getting stronger, but I really didn't think they were close enough for me to head to the hospital. By the time Jeremy got home, around 4:30, I was ready to go. I had made a call to the doctor to let her know that I was heading in - I jumped in the shower and changed my clothes and we were off.

We literally made it just in time to the hospital. We parked the car and started walking - and then, my water broke. I don't even want to think of the mess I would have made in the car if we had left a few minutes later. Vomit.

By the time we got checked in I had started freaking out. I didn't feel right, something was going on and no one had checked on me yet. I really thought that there was something wrong with me. Once I got checked out I was informed that I was already 8cm dialated. WOW. I did not see that one coming!

Thanks to my mother, pictured below is me mid contraction

We had rolled up to the hospital at around 5:30p,, and by 8:49pm we had our beautiful son, Camden Edward Floyd. Weighing in at 7.7lbs and 19.5 inches. He was born naturally with no epidural - the way that I had planned. Pushing seemed like no big deal after the long day of contractions I had. Jeremy was such an amazing support during the delivery. I don't think he had time to even process anything, things were happening so quickly. I wouldn't have wanted it any other oway!

Now begins the fun part - survival. We have made it through our first week with the help of family and friends. There have been some minor breakdowns here and there, but that is to be expected (and I'm sure there will be more) I'm ready for the journey.

Holy Belly!

So my plan for last Wednesday, which was my due date, was to upload pictures from the past 4-5 months of my pregnancy. I figured this would be fun so everyone could see the transformation that this little guy was making inside of my body.
Little did I know that I wouldn't be able to post these pictures last week because I would be too busy trying to breathe through some serious contractions. Today it is about me and my belly pictures....tomorrow it's all about baby :)

February 2nd,  22 weeks pregnant

March 16th,  28 weeks pregnant

April 13th,  32 weeks pregnant

May 18th, 37 weeks pregnant

June 8th, 40 weeks pregnant and pretending to be happy mid contraction

Baby updates tomorrow...Promise :)

Patiently Waiting

So today I start the waiting game. I guess if I'm being honest, I've been playing the waiting game for a few weeks now, but now it seems official. Baby Floyd is due Wednesday, June 8th. That is three days from now. I think it would be pretty cool if he came on his actual due date. I read a statistic that said only about 5% of babies are born on their due dates.

Friday was my last day at work. I would love to be able to have a few days of relaxation and to finish things around the house before the little guy comes. :) <3
